Paying Rent In The "Tower Of Song"

The dapper poet laureate of folk music was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last night. The words to "Dance Me Till the End Of Love," "Famous Blue Raincoat," "Suzanne," and countless others are enshrined forever. Sincerely, LC.

What's YOUR favorite version of Hallelujah? John Cale? Rufus Wainwright? Brandi Carlile? Jeff Buckley? Bono? Or someone else?

I am torn between Buckley's version and Brandi Carlile's.

Have you ever heard kd lang's version? It's on her Hymns of the 49th Parallel cd. No matter how many times I hear it, it gives me goose bumps.

I have to go with Rufus. The first time I heard it, I cried.

Anything KD Lang sings can make your hair stand up, but yes, her version of Hallelujah is outstanding! Thanks for mentioning it!

It's just amazing how many times this song gets covered. That unique combination of not being all that famous when it first came out, yet being one of the greatest songs ever written.

My personal favorite is Buckley--sounds really ghostly, especially when you know Buckley's story.
