Bummed that "In Sleep" didn't make it higher up in the countdown, but being in the top 50 songs of the year isn't too bad. Looking forward to seeing the top 20/top 10!

I think WTMD might be losing its touch on the playlist side.

Thanks for your note. If you would care to put a name and contact information to your thoughts and expand on them a bit so we can understand better what you're thinking, we would be happy to incorporate them into our planning.

OH--and remember the countdown list is constructed from listener votes.

anymous two is a fool

I partially agree with anonymous. WTMD tends to overplay certain songs. The top 89 songs on the year was basically the average WTMD daily playlist.

I think it would serve the station well to continue to play the same great artists, but maybe try to dive a bit deeper into their catalogs.

A lot of people may disagree, but when I listen to WTMD at work everyday,it seems like I hear the same songs everyday and I tend to hear them around the same time.

I love the station, I just mean this post as constructive criticism.

It definitely was very tough to pick 5 songs, and I'm not too dismayed that general opinion diverged from my own a bit. But I'm really surprised that Laredo was voted higher than Dilly. Go figure.

Here is my shoutout for 2010. As usual you dismiss the efforts of the band British Sea Power. Listen to the cut "Bear" from the album Zeus.

Cassie, I'm totally with you. Florence + the Machine didn't make the list, but Sleigh Bells did?? Bizarre. Just goes to show the randomness of the listening masses, I guess.

I also think the more recent songs definitely had a big advantage. It's just like the Oscars. Everyone forgets the great stuff that came out earlier in the year...

Surprised no Local Natives on the list. Their album this year is quite good.

I agree with Anonymous #2 and Anonymous #4. WTMD needs to dig harder into some of these artists and play a greater variety. There also seems to be not very many dance tunes these days; I wouldn't mind hearing some Delorean, Small Black, Washed Out, Caribou, Phantogram etc.

Love,

While I truly enjoy almost all of TMD's playlists, I am thrilled with Anonymous 7's suggestion for more [good] dance music. ("Odessa" by Caribou almost made it onto my Top 5 of 2010.) Wouldn't it be great if there was a "Good House" hour?? But I know not everyone's taste is as eclectic as this, and I know one station cannot be all things to all people. There are other sources for what I'm talking about -- just not any that I so whole-heartedly support as WTMD! But I would hate for any efforts to be "overly" diverse were to dilute what makes them great to begin with. "Be careful what you ask for" can be a bitter lesson to learn.

The real problem is that WTMD has no peers in the Baltimore/DC area in the quality of music radio they provide. No one else to bear the burden of trying to please passionate listeners who all want to hear what they prefer! Poor WTMD. :(

Wish you all a very Merry Christmas, Happy Winter Solstice, and a wonderful New Year full of more great music!!

No "Revival" by Deerhunter or "Heathen Child" by Grinderman? Hersey! Most of my favorite songs from The Suburbs are here, thankfully, although there's a few too many songs from there and the Black Keys' Brothers. Can't really argue with the top 2 choices tho!

DUH! The list was based on WTMD listener votes for song this year. What did you expect? Beyonce and Lady Gaga?

Thank God WTMD is here to keep good music on the air.
